That's cause the current system needs a few tweaks:
* They wouldn't have to spam if the party window could show more than the first 20 characters of the ad. That's a glaring issue which should be fixed. Then everybody could just mute the trade channel and only open the party window when they really need to trade.
* Add a quicksearch filter to the party window.
* Spam to the trade channel could very well be regulated by the game itself. Either limit to 1 message per T seconds, or implement a limit of N messages/T seconds which, when met, mutes the player for P penalty seconds.

1) Why don't you just merch or junk it? Apparently you don't need the money.

2) If the idea is to just give away stuff, I'm not sure how having a trade board would help in your particular case. You're probably thinking of a donation bin.

I don't remember where I first came across the donation bin idea. It may have been a MUD. :/

On a related note, last night there was a player doing that, except his/her idea of fun was to hide in a God-forsaken corner of the city so actually finding them was a chore. :/

I ask "offer" because I don't know the prices on things very well. If someone gives me an offer that sounds "fair", then I will agree to it. If in my gut it seems too low, I will decline.

Simple.

I won't engage with anyone in-game who asks for an "offer" or, more commonly, an "offert". It's just not worth the backlash.

If you're humble and are genuinely unsure of the prices then you won't be such an ass and respond with "lol" or some sort of profanity when the offer isn't high enough. If you're in the position to be a smug git about low offers then you obviously have a price in mind. Have some balls and list your price you greedy, opportunistic chancer.

I understand that people are afraid that they might be selling something too low but there are better ways to price-check than asking in Kamadan - home of relentless power trader - because you're likely still to be mislead.

I always, always list my prices and I'm willing to skim up to 20% off of my asking price (depending on the item(s) and my mood at the time) because I'm just glad of the freaking sale. Not only does it raise your gold stash but it creates more room and the time saved can be spent actually playing.

Even so, using "offer" to take advantage of people's chances of posting a high number is effective....even if it is morally wrong.

Business is business...and the one who walks away with as much money as possible is the winner. That is life.

But how many people, on average, will you have to contend with before someone will offer over the odds?

People with more money tend to have a greater understanding of the current prices.
